Chapter 1 - THE TRUTH LOGAN NEVER EXPECTED

My fiancé paid a man to throw acid in my face one week before our wedding so he could replace me with another woman. He thought he’d destroyed my future, until I overheard the secret from my hospital bed that could destroy his.
I kept my eyes closed when Logan entered my hospital room.
My face was wrapped in bandages. Every heartbeat sent another wave of pain through my skin.
He thought I was unconscious.
That was the only advantage I had left.
Hours earlier, I'd walked out of a bridal fitting in Soho when a stranger approached me.
“Are you Maya? Logan Vance's fiancée?”
I smiled.
Then he pulled a bottle from his coat.
I remembered fire across my face.
My scream.
The pavement.
Nothing else.
Now Logan stood beside the bed with Ryan, his longtime manager.
“You could've just canceled the wedding,” Ryan whispered furiously. “Why pay someone to do this?”
My blood went cold.
Logan answered calmly.
“Because everyone loves Maya.”
Five years.
I'd spent five years loving this man.
And he had just admitted he paid someone to destroy me.
“If I left her for Rachel,” Logan continued, “my fans would crucify us. But now I'm the devastated fiancé standing beside the woman he loves.”
Ryan sounded sick.
“At least get her the best reconstructive surgeon.”
“No.”
One word.
No hesitation.
“If she stays scarred, she stays dependent on me.”
Then Logan leaned closer.
I could smell his cologne.
The same cologne he'd worn when he proposed.
“After this,” he whispered, “who would ever want her?”
I wanted to tear the bandages away and scream.
Instead, I stayed still.
Then Ryan asked, “What about Rachel?”
Logan laughed softly.
“That's already handled.”
Something changed in Ryan's voice.
“You didn't.”
“I did.”
A pause.
Then came the sentence that hurt almost as much as the attack.
“Rachel and I got married three weeks ago.”
My heart monitor jumped.
I forced myself to breathe slowly.
Three weeks ago?
While Logan was tasting wedding cakes with me, he'd already married someone else.
But Ryan's next question was stranger.
“And Maya's signature?”
Logan went silent.
My fear sharpened into attention.
Finally, he said, “She signed everything. She just didn't know what she was signing.”
That was when I understood.
This wasn't only about another woman.
And it wasn't only about my face.
Logan had needed something from me before getting rid of me.
Minutes later, they left.
I opened my eyes.
Then I pressed the nurse button.
When she entered, I whispered, “Lock the door.”
She stared at me.
“Please call my attorney.”
“For your will?”
“No.”
I swallowed through the pain.
“Tell him to bring every document Logan asked me to sign during the last six months.”
Because suddenly I remembered one page he'd rushed me through the night before our engagement party.

And the signature at the bottom wasn't mine.
Absolutely. I’ll continue directly from the signature reveal, keeping the US-style billionaire/relationship drama pacing, with longer narrative lead-ins, escalating secrets, and a strong cliffhanger at the end of each chapter.
