Chapter 18 - A NEW DAWN FOR SECTOR 4

The fallout of the broadcast was swift and absolute.

Within forty-eight hours, Director Malakor and his co-conspirators were stripped of their ranks and imprisoned. The Syndicate’s illegal hold over the city’s resources was dismantled, and the High Council was forced to pass immediate relief acts for the impoverished lower sectors.

One month later.

The morning sun broke through the gray winter clouds, bathing the city in a rare, golden warmth.

In the newly restored High Council Chambers, a historic ceremony was taking place. Representatives from all nine sectors—from the wealthy High District to the scavengers of Sector 4—filled the galleries.

Marcus Vance sat at the main council table as the interim regent, flanked by Captain Hayes and young Jax.

Standing at the front of the podium were Clara and I.

I was no longer wearing tattered rags or an oversized tactical coat. I wore a tailored dark blue tunic bearing the silver flying bird crest over my heart. Beside me, Clara wore her familiar camel coat, her face glowing with a wide, radiant smile.

"By unanimous vote of the nine sectors," the Chief Magistrate announced, his voice echoing through the grand hall, "we formally reinstate the Vance Family Trust, with Nora Vance recognized as the legitimate heir, and Clara Vance as the primary ambassador to the lower sectors."

The entire chamber erupted into standing ovations. For the first time in a century, people from Sector 4 sat beside the elite of the High District, cheering together.
