Chapter 15 - THE RETURN HOME

By the time the private jet touched back down in Chicago, autumn had begun to paint the city streets in brilliant shades of amber, crimson, and gold.
Returning to the Vance estate felt less like entering a grand, intimidating manor and more like walking through the front door of a true family home.
Mr. Henderson greeted them warmly in the foyer, while a crackling fire burned brightly in the library hearth.
Over the following months, Shiomara’s Kitchen became an established culinary institution in Chicago, earning rave reviews from top food critics across the country. Yet, despite her newfound wealth and success, Shiomara never lost her grounded humility.
Every Sunday morning, true to her lifelong nature, she personally prepared fifty warm, gourmet boxed meals in the restaurant's commercial kitchen. Accompanied by Eleanor, she would drive down to the historic district near the old bridge, personally handing out food and warm coats to anyone living on the streets—always looking them directly in the eye, always treating them with absolute respect.
She never sought publicity for it. There were no cameras, no press releases, and no news crews.

And back at the estate, nestled safely in the heart of a family that would move mountains to protect her, Shiomara Reyes finally knew what it meant to be truly home.
