Six months later, the Phoenix papers featured a massive headline across the business section:
LINDQVIST-TECH ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER: GENEVIEVE LINDQVIST LEADS THE FUTURE OF THE EMPIRE.
Inside the sprawling, sunlit executive office on the top floor of Lindqvist Tower, I stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, looking out over the sprawling city my father had built.
The desk behind me was organized, clean, and entirely secure. My private life was reclaimed, my son was thriving in a loving home filled with safety and laughter, and the shadows of betrayal had been thoroughly swept away.
The office door clicked open softly, and Marcus stepped inside, carrying a final set of quarterly audit reports.
"Everything is locked down and verified, Miss Lindqvist," Marcus reported with a respectful nod. "Not a single discrepancy across any subsidiary account."
"Thank you, Marcus," I smiled, turning away from the window. "How is my father doing today?"
"Resting comfortably at the estate, though he insists on reviewing the international market trends before noon," Marcus chuckled.
