Chapter 14 - Breach at Raven’s Ridge

The Blue Ridge compound—known locally as Raven’s Ridge—was a sprawling, ultra-modern fortress of reinforced concrete, bulletproof glass, and perimeter motion-sensors nestled deep within the foggy peaks of Virginia. It was designed to withstand a small military invasion, protected by private mercenaries and advanced automated defense grids.

Our armored SUV cut its headlights a mile out, creeping silently along an old logging road before coming to a complete stop at the tree line.

I stepped out into the biting mountain wind, dressed entirely in matte-black tactical gear, a heavy assault rifle slung across my chest and the obsidian Vanguard challenge coin secured firmly in my breast pocket.

“Perimeter sensors are tied to the main guard tower,” Miller whispered, handing me a high-frequency signal jammer. “You have a three-minute window before their automated reboot sequence catches the interference.”

“Cover the north ridge,” I instructed, pulling my tactical balaclava up over my face. “If anyone tries to escape by chopper, ground them.”

I moved through the rugged mountain brush like a phantom, scaling the twelve-foot electrified perimeter fence with practiced ease while the signal jammer looped the security cameras into a frozen loop. Touching down softly on the manicured gravel paths inside the compound, I bypassed the main entrance entirely, slipping through a heavy service tunnel that led directly beneath the main executive bunker.
