Chapter 16 - The Final Confession

Before Arthur could reach for the panic button concealed beneath the mahogany conference table, I raised the barrel of my rifle, firing a single, deafening round directly into the control panel. Sparks showered across the floor, completely disabling the compound’s entire emergency communication and alarm grid.
The other billionaires shrank back into their leather chairs, paralyzed by sheer, unadulterated terror as they realized the full magnitude of their doom.
“You’re David Miller,” one of the executives whimpered, recognizing my voice from the campus security files. “You’re just a security consultant... how did you—”
“I am Commander David Vance,” I interrupted, my voice dropping into that dark, hollow register that had terrified warlords across continents. “The man you thought you could bury under your money and your political corruption.”
I pulled a secure digital recorder from my pocket and tossed it onto the glass table right in front of Arthur Caldwell.
“You’re going to speak into that microphone,” I ordered coldly. “You’re going to state for the public record every single crime your syndicate has committed—the municipal frauds, the judicial bribes, the suppressed evidence, the stolen identities, and the exact order given to shatter my daughter’s face.”

Arthur stared at the recorder, his eyes darting frantically toward the door before looking back up into my relentless gaze. He knew there was no escape.
With shaking hands, Arthur reached out, pressed the record button, and began to speak.
