Chapter 13 - THE AMBUSH AT THE DOCKS

Three weeks later.
The wedding preparations were nearly complete, but the remnants of the Montigue loyalists were growing desperate. Without their port contracts, a rogue faction of rival syndicate enforcers led by Serena’s uncle, Hector Montigue, decided on a suicidal final strike.
It was a rainy Tuesday night. Victor was at the south docks inspecting a high-value shipment, accompanied by Mikhail and eight armed guards.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Automatic gunfire shattered the quiet night air, ripping through the metal storage containers surrounding Victor’s convoy.
"AMBUSH!" Mikhail yelled, pulling his weapon and shoving Victor behind an armored SUV. "It's Hector’s men! They brought heavy automatic rifles!"
Sparks flew off the vehicle's bulletproof glass as dozens of rounds rained down on their position. Two Blackwood guards fell, wounded, as Hector’s men began closing the circle.
"We need backup from the estate!" Mikhail shouted over the deafening roar of gunfire, ducking as a bullet shattered the side mirror. "The radio comms are jammed!"
Inside the main SUV, Victor pulled a heavy customized pistol from under the seat. His eyes were cold, unbothered by the chaos surrounding him.
Suddenly, the roar of a heavy engine echoed from the dock entrance.
A massive, armored Blackwood transport truck smashed through the wooden security gates at sixty miles per hour, ramming directly into the side of the attackers' lead vehicle and crushing it against a shipping container.
The rear doors of the transport swung open.
Lilianna’s personal security detail—ten elite tactical operatives trained by the Moretti security network—flanked the perimeter, returning precise, overwhelming counter-fire that dismantled Hector’s men in less than ninety seconds.
From the passenger seat of the transport truck stepped Lilianna, wearing a dark rain coat, holding an encrypted satellite transmitter that bypassed the local jammer.
Victor stepped out from behind the SUV, holstering his gun as he stared at his fiancée in utter disbelief.
"Lilianna?" Victor rasped, walking toward her through the rain. "What are you doing here?!"
"The security monitoring system at the mansion flagged the signal blackout at Dock 4 five minutes ago," Lilianna said calmly, handing him an earpiece. "I deployed the tactical reserve team. Are you hurt?"
May you like
Victor looked at the woman standing before him in the pouring rain—the girl who had once been a helpless nanny was now commanding tactical units to save his life.
He pulled her into his arms, kissing her fiercely amidst the smoke and rain. "You are incredible," he growled softly against her lips.
