Six months after the wedding.

The corporate headquarters of the Blackwood Trust occupied the top three floors of the tallest skyscraper in downtown Chicago.

Inside the corner executive suite, Lilianna sat at a massive walnut desk, reviewing real estate acquisition reports and charity foundation grants. She had officially been named Chief Executive Officer of the Blackwood Foundation, managing over two hundred million dollars dedicated to pediatric healthcare and child welfare across the state.

KNOCK. KNOCK.

The glass door opened, and Victor stepped inside carrying two cups of fresh coffee.

Victor looked down at the documents, feeling a profound sense of peace he had never known in his entire life. Before Lilianna, his life had been a constant war of shadows, violence, and corporate paranoia. She had brought light, morality, and purpose into his empire.

"Ethan is at home with his tutors," Victor murmured, stroking her dark hair. "He keeps asking when his mother is coming home to read him his bedtime story."

"Then I am closing this laptop right now," Lilianna said, shutting the screen with a decisive snap.
