Chapter 11 - The Final Verdict

The courtroom was quiet, save for the rhythmic clicking of the court reporter’s machine and the heavy, ragged breathing of Julian Vance as he stood before the bench.
Six months of relentless legal battles, asset freezes, and unyielding defense had finally culminated in this final sentencing hearing.
Judge Sterling adjusted his glasses, looking down from his elevated podium with a gaze that carried the weight of absolute authority.
“Mr. Vance, you stand convicted of felony domestic battery, willful destruction of personal property, and financial fraud against a protected family trust,” Judge Sterling read from the official parchment, his voice echoing through the wood-paneled room. “Your actions demonstrated not only a complete disregard for the law, but a profound abuse of trust within a domestic sanctuary.”
Julian stared straight ahead, his posture defeated, his bespoke suit now hanging loosely off a frame thinned by months of stress and confinement.
“The court accepts the joint plea agreement,” the judge continued, striking his gavel with a sharp, definitive crack. “Three years mandatory incarceration, no possibility of early parole, a permanent restraining order protecting Ms. Sloan Vance, and full restitution for all misappropriated trust funds.”
A collective sigh rippled through the gallery.
