Chapter 18 - The Safehouse Sanctuary

By sunrise, the chaotic nightmare of the hospital raid was replaced by the dead, reassuring silence of a secure, unmapped safehouse located deep within an industrial loft in Brooklyn, far away from the prying eyes of the city's corrupted infrastructure.
I sat at a sturdy wooden table, gently rocking my sleeping daughter in a makeshift bassinet while Special Agent Reeves worked furiously across the room, downloading the encrypted contents of my grandfather’s trust records onto a hardened military server.
“The federal prosecutor just signed the formal indictments against Viktor Vance, Harrison Vance, and the entire board of Meridian Holdings,” Reeves announced, turning his laptop around to show me a glowing green authorization screen. “Every single bank account, offshore shell, and fraudulent asset transfer they tried to pin on you has been legally quarantined under federal whistleblower protection laws.”
I let out a long, shuddering breath, feeling a massive weight lift off my shoulders for the first time in days. My empire wasn't lost. My baby was safe. And the people who had tried to destroy us were finally facing the unyielding iron fist of the law.
“What about my family?” I asked quietly, looking down at my sleeping child.

Reeves paused, sliding a final case report across the table. “Your parents and Ethan are being transferred to a federal holding facility in upstate New York pending trial. They refused to cooperate with the investigation, believing Viktor Vance would bail them out. They’re completely on their own now.”
I looked out the high loft window, watching the golden morning sun rise over the Manhattan skyline in the distance. The battle was far from completely over, but the darkest shadows had finally broken.
