As a high-level logistics executive, Daniel had installed a state-of-the-art security system when they moved into the Connecticut estate three years ago. Victoria knew about the visible cameras near the driveway and the front gates, but she had overlooked one crucial detail: Daniel had integrated hidden secondary environmental sensors and backup audio-visual feeds into the smart-home hub to monitor property climate and security while traveling.
With cold, precise movements, Daniel accessed the encrypted cloud server holding the past ninety days of internal footage.
He started with the current month, setting the playback speed to double.
What he saw over the next two hours nauseated him to his core.
October 14th: Daniel was in London. On screen, Victoria locked the pantry door, leaving Emma sitting on the floor outside for four hours because the girl had spilled a box of cereal.
October 28th: Daniel was in Singapore. The footage captured Victoria standing over Emma in the hallway, taking away her favorite stuffed animal—a worn velvet rabbit left behind by her late mother—and dropping it directly into the fireplace while Emma wept quietly.
November 2nd: Yesterday. Victoria systematically removed all fresh fruit and snacks from the lower kitchen cabinets, placing them on high shelves Emma couldn't reach, before setting down Duke's food bowl in the center of the room.
There was no physical violence that left dark bruises for a pediatrician to spot. It was something far more sinister: a meticulously planned campaign of emotional starvation, isolation, and psychological torture designed to break the child's spirit while keeping her terrified of speaking out.

He inserted a high-capacity flash drive into the USB port and began downloading every single clip, timestamping each file with ruthless precision.
