Chapter 15 - THE RECLAIMED IDENTITY
Before Victor’s attorneys could file a motion, the boardroom doors opened a second time.
Four federal agents stepped into the room, led by a lead prosecutor holding a signed federal arrest warrant.
"Victor Thorne," the prosecutor announced, his voice booming through the silent room. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, corporate fraud, wire fraud, and illegal obstruction of justice. Federal marshals have already seized your accounts."
The lead agent stepped forward, pulling Victor’s arms behind his back and clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Victor’s walking stick clattered onto the polished parquet floor. He looked at Julian, his jaw working silently, his face draining of every last drop of pride.
"Julian..." Victor rasped, his voice cracking. "I raised you..."
"You didn't raise me," Julian replied coldly, looking his uncle straight in the eye. "You hid me in plain sight."
As the federal agents escorted the disgraced chairman out of the penthouse suite past staring executives and flashing press cameras, a deep, profound silence settled over the boardroom.
The board members looked at Julian, then at the worn woman standing quietly beside him.
"Julian," Clara’s father said softly, stepping forward. "The company needs leadership. The board is ready to appoint you permanent Chairman effective immediately."
Julian looked at the massive executive desk overlooking the city skyline—the seat his father had once occupied, the seat Victor had corrupted. Then, he looked at Elowen, whose hand rested gently on his arm.
Julian reached down, picked up his father's old blue ledger from the table, and handed it to the federal prosecutor.

"My father’s legacy isn't this building," Julian said clearly to the board. "It’s the truth."
Julian turned away from the executive table, wrapped his arm around his mother’s shoulders, and walked out of the Thorne Global headquarters into the morning light—together.
