Chapter 15 - The Library of Records

Weeks later, Elena spent her Sunday afternoon in the historic archives of the original Harrington estate. The dust had long been cleared away, and the room had been converted into a private reading room for historical and financial research.

She unlocked an antique oak filing cabinet that had remained jammed for decades. Inside, tucked behind a false wooden panel, sat her mother Martha’s original handwritten journals.

Elena pulled them out carefully, her fingers tracing the familiar, elegant handwriting. The pages detailed her mother’s early struggles to build an ethical enterprise in an era dominated by corporate greed—and the quiet resilience required to keep going when the boardrooms closed their doors against her.

It wasn't just a historical record; it was a map of survival.

“I see you found the missing volume,” a deep, familiar voice said from the doorway.

Elena looked up to see Victor leaning against the doorframe, holding a cup of black coffee. She smiled, holding up one of the journals. “She wrote about this exact room twenty-five years ago. She said truth is the only currency that never loses its value.”

Victor walked over, resting a hand on the back of the wooden chair. “And she was right. You proved it, Elena. You took her legacy out of the shadows and brought it into the light.”
