Chapter 17 - The Open Door

One year to the day after the dramatic night at Blackthorn Manor, the heavy iron security gates of the estate were permanently dismantled.

The mansion had been repurposed into a residential leadership academy for young women entering law, finance, and public policy—a place where education, ethics, and transparency were taught as the highest forms of strength.

Elena walked down the wide stone steps of the front porch, the morning sun casting a warm, golden glow across the manicured lawns. The front doors stood wide open, welcoming a fresh busload of students arriving for the autumn semester.

A young student stepped off the bus, looking up at the grand architecture with a mixture of awe and hesitation. Elena walked over, offering a reassuring, welcoming smile.

“Welcome to the academy,” Elena said, her voice steady and clear. “Come on inside. We’ve been waiting for you.”

The student smiled back, stepping across the threshold without an ounce of fear. The past was fully behind them, the foundation was unshakeable, and the horizon stretching out before them was entirely open, bright, and free.
