The tiny baby girl was placed gently against Savannah’s chest, her small fists curled tightly, letting out soft, contented sighs as her chest rose and fell.
“Meet Elena,” Savannah whispered, tears streaming down her face as she looked down at our daughter, naming her after the mother who had been stolen from our family decades ago. “A little piece of our history restored.”

Through the massive hospital window, the morning sun broke through the Manhattan skyline, casting a warm, golden glow across the room. The shadows of the past had completely dissolved into light. We were safe, we were unbroken, and our family had finally begun its true, beautiful beginning.
