Chapter 20 - A NEW DAWN

That evening, as the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant shades of gold, orange, and purple, Clara and Lily walked down to the quiet sandy beach behind their new home.
The sea breeze blew gently through Lily’s hair as she ran along the edge of the water, collecting smooth seashells in her bright yellow bucket.
Clara sat on a wooden bench on the dunes, holding a small silver frame containing a photograph of Daniel in his uniform. She looked down at the photo, then out toward the calm, endless horizon.
Lily ran back up the dune, holding a shiny silver shell in her hand. She sat down beside her mother, leaning against Clara’s shoulder as the ocean waves lapped softly against the shore.
"Mommy," Lily asked softly, looking up at the sky. "Do you think Daddy can see us from up there?"
Clara put her arm around her daughter, kissing the top of her head.
"I know he can, sweetie," Clara whispered, her voice filled with absolute peace. "He's watching us right now... and we are finally safe."
