Chapter 14 - FLIGHT TO ZURICH

Twenty-four hours after the threat landed in Daniel’s inbox, a private Gulfstream jet cut through the clouds, heading toward Zurich, Switzerland.

Inside the cabin, the atmosphere was dead silent. Daniel sat with his laptop, reviewing the final financial threads connecting Rodrigo Alvarado, Lucía, and a private psychiatric facility known as Alpenrose Clinic tucked away in the Swiss Alps. Beside him, Mateo was holding a tablet, studying the map of the Alpine medical estate, while Sofía slept under a warm blanket across the aisle.

"The doctor who signed the fake psychiatric certificates is Dr. Hans Weber," Valeria said, leaning over from her seat. "He’s the chief medical director at Alpenrose. Officially, he’s a respected psychiatrist. Unofficially, he’s the syndicate’s primary eraser—he signs off on declaring wealthy heirs mentally unfit, transferring their assets to shadow trusts."

"And my late wife, Elena... she died in a car crash near Geneva three years ago," Daniel said, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the edge of the table. "Dr. Weber was the medical examiner who signed her autopsy report."

Mateo looked up, his eyes widening. "Dad... you think Mom's crash wasn't an accident?"

Daniel looked at his son, the painful truth finally assembling in his mind like a horror puzzle. "Elena discovered the lithium deposits on her family estate weeks before she died. She refused to sell. She went to Switzerland to transfer the land title into a private trust for you two... and she never came back."

"So they killed her," Mateo whispered, his voice trembling with a mix of grief and sudden, cold hatred. "And then Lucía came into our lives to finish the job."

"They tried," Daniel said, reaching out to squeeze Mateo’s shoulder tightly. "But they underestimated how much your mother loved you, and how far I will go to protect you. We aren't going to Zurich to defend ourselves, Mateo. We are going there to destroy them."
