Chapter 12 - The Collapse of the Empire

Before Arthur could take two steps toward the stairs, the massive projection screens descending from the vaulted ceiling hissed to life.

In brilliant, high-definition clarity, the micro-SD card’s contents began streaming across the giant displays for every wealthy investor, state official, and journalist in the room to see. Detailed bank routing numbers linking Arthur’s personal offshore accounts to embezzled corporate funds flashed across the screens. Scanned copies of falsified death certificates, signed under forged seals, sat side-by-side with the digital blueprints of the patents Arthur had murdered their father to steal.

And right at the center of the screen, a clear, timestamped video file began to play—showing Arthur Vance standing in the glowing embers of the estate twenty years ago, speaking into a burner phone with chilling calmness: “The fire is contained. Elena is gone. The trust is ours.”

The ballroom erupted into chaotic uproar. Shouts of shock, gasps of absolute horror, and frantic whispers bounced off the crystal chandeliers as the untouchable titan of industry stood completely exposed before the very society he had manipulated for decades.

Slowly, the heavy double doors at the main entrance of the ballroom swung open. Margaret and Elena—walking side-by-side, bruised and battle-worn, but standing tall with unyielding grace—stepped out from the shadows and into the brilliant light of the room.

Arthur stopped dead in his tracks, staring at the twin ghosts who had returned from the grave to claim their vengeance, as the wailing sirens of federal police cruisers began to echo fiercely from the gates outside.
