Then, the entire audience rose to their feet as one. A deafening roar of applause and cheers erupted through the hall, shaking the crystal chandeliers overhead. Flowers were tossed onto the stage as two thousand people gave a standing ovation that lasted nearly fifteen minutes.
Julian walked back out onto the stage, dropping to his knees and wrapping his arms around Maya in a tight, emotional embrace.
"You did it, Maya," Julian choked out through his tears. "You did it."
"We did it, Dad," Maya whispered into his shoulder, holding him tight.
EPILOGUE: ONE YEAR LATER
The summer sun shone warmly over the coastal village where Elena Vane had lived.
The modest cottage by the sea had been restored into the Elena Vane Academy of Music—a free residential school for young, underprivileged musicians from across the world.
Out on the sunlit veranda overlooking the blue ocean, a shiny grand piano sat under the breeze.
Maya, now thirteen, sat on the bench beside a young seven-year-old girl who was sitting in a wheelchair, gently guiding the child's small hands across the ivory keys.
Julian stood nearby at the wooden railing, holding two cups of warm tea, watching his daughter share the gift of music with the next generation.
