Chapter 10 - THE RESTORATION

By 2:00 PM, the storm inside the firm had settled.
The payroll line had been fully restored, the employees had received their direct deposits, and David was organizing the team to push forward on their active architectural builds.
Arthur stood in his corner office, looking out at the city skyline. His hand still shook slightly from the adrenaline rush of the morning, but the suffocating weight that had rested on his broad shoulders for weeks had finally lifted.
His phone chimed with a video call notification.
Arthur answered immediately, his face softening into a warm smile as Clara’s face appeared on the screen. She was sitting in the cozy rocking chair in Maya’s nursery, holding their little girl, who was fast asleep against her shoulder. The room was bathed in soft, golden afternoon light.
"How did it go?" Clara asked gently, her hazel eyes searching his face.
"It's over, Clara," Arthur said softly, his voice thick with emotion. "The accounts are cleared. Julian backed down. They can't touch us anymore."
Clara let out a long, quiet breath, tears of relief shimmering in her eyes. "Thank you, Arthur... for believing me. For protecting us."
"Always," Arthur swore quietly, leaning closer to the camera. "I'm coming home."
