Daniel kicked aside a fallen rifle and rushed to the nursery panel, tapping the biometric code into the keypad.

Elena sat on the floor in the dark, shivering violently, but she had wrapped her entire body around Noah. The little boy peeked out from under her arm, his hazel eyes wide. When he saw Daniel, he reached out his tiny hands.
"Da!" Noah whimpered.
Daniel dropped to his knees, scooping Noah into his arms and pulling him tight against his chest, feeling the boy’s warm, rapid heartbeat. "I'm here, buddy. I've got you. You're safe."
Marcus walked into the room, pressing a towel to his bleeding shoulder. He held up a satellite phone retrieved from one of the fallen intruders.
"The radio logs were encrypted, Daniel," Marcus said, his voice raspy. "But the last outgoing call on this burner went directly to a private airstrip in Gary, Indiana. Harrison bought a ticket on a charter flight to Dubai leaving at midnight."

"Call the federal prosecutor," Daniel ordered. "Tell him Harrison didn't just commit corporate fraud. He just authorized an armed assault on a federal witness."
