Chapter 6 - THE EXILE FROM THE ESTATE

Rain lashed against the French doors of the grand parlor as Margaret frantically shoved designer clothes and jewelry into leather suitcases. Her manicured hands shook, spilling diamonds onto the carpet as her mind raced to process how quickly her world had crumbled.
Standing in the doorway, Daniel watched her with cold, unyielding silence, cradling little Noah safely against his shoulder.
"You think you've won, Daniel?" Margaret spat, zipping her bag with a violent jerk and turning to glare at him. Her left cheek was still deeply bruised from Daniel's strike. "You think bringing Julian's bastard into this house gives you power? The Vance Global board will never accept an illegitimate toddler as the chief heir!"
"Noah isn't an illegitimate toddler," Daniel replied, his voice dropping into a dangerous, icy register. "He is Julian’s lawful son, born under a confidential marriage in London that you spent two years trying to erase."
Margaret froze, her eyes widening in sheer panic. "Who told you about London?"
"Julian kept a duplicate log of all your wire transfers to the registrar office," Daniel said. "He knew you were plotting against him long before his car went over that cliff in the Swiss Alps."

"He was insane!" Margaret shrieked, snatching her purse from the bed. "Julian was going to bankrupt the family trust for some nobody waitress! I saved this family!"
"You tried to murder a fifteen-month-old child on a staircase because he stood between you and twenty billion dollars," Daniel said flatly, stepping aside to reveal two armed federal marshals waiting in the hall. "Now get out of my house."
