Chapter 16 - THE CLEANSE OF VANCE GLOBAL

By Monday morning, the news of Harrison Vance’s arrest sent shockwaves through the global financial markets.
Front-page headlines across every major financial paper read: VANCE GLOBAL CEO OUSTED IN EMBEZZLEMENT AND CONSPIRACY STING; INFANT HEIR PROTECTED BY FEDERAL AUTHORITIES.
Inside the 60th-floor executive offices of Vance Global Tower, Daniel sat behind the heavy mahogany desk that had once belonged to his father, and later his late brother Julian. The room felt lighter, the oppressive shadow that had hung over the empire for two long years finally lifting.
Marcus walked in, dropping a heavy stack of legal documents onto the desk.
"The federal court just finalized the asset seizures, boss," Marcus reported. "Every account linked to Harrison and Margaret has been frozen and returned to the primary family trust. Margaret accepted a plea deal for fifteen years in federal prison without parole. Harrison is facing life."
Daniel nodded slowly, signing the final corporate restructuring order. "And the board?"
"They voted unanimously this morning to confirm you as Chairman and Trustee until Noah comes of age," Marcus said, a rare smile breaking across his face. "No objections. No dissenters."

Daniel closed the file and leaned back in his chair, looking at a framed photograph on his desk. It was a picture of Julian, smiling proudly on a hiking trip in Switzerland years ago.
"We cleaned house, brother," Daniel whispered to the photo.
