Chapter 13 - THE GUARDIAN'S VOW

With Victor Vance captured and his forged records seized by federal authorities, the final legal cloud hanging over the family dissolved completely.
A week later, the High Family Court convened for a private hearing.
Sitting before Judge Sarah Montgomery were Nico, Sienna, and seven-year-old Mila. On Sienna's lap sat little Elena, cooing softly as she played with a silver rattle.
"Mrs. Ferrante," Judge Montgomery said, reviewing the final decree papers on her bench. "With Gavin Ferrante’s parental rights legally severed and all fraudulent prenuptial agreements declared null and void, this court is ready to issue the full, unencumbered custody order and estate distribution."
The judge turned her gaze toward Nico.
"Mr. Ferrante, as the sole living patriarch of the Ferrante Trust, do you officially recognize Sienna Ferrante and her children as the primary heirs to the estate?"
Nico stood up, his posture tall and solemn. He reached into his jacket pocket and placed a bound leather document on the clerk's desk.
"Your Honor," Nico spoke clearly, his voice filling the quiet courtroom. "This is a revised family charter. I have permanently dissolved the original bloodline trust that caused so much greed and destruction."
Sienna looked up at Nico in surprise.
"In its place," Nico continued, looking warmly at Sienna and Mila, "I have established the Mila & Elena Education and Architecture Trust, managed solely by Sienna Ferrante. Furthermore, I am legally adopting Sienna as my full daughter under the law. She is not merely my daughter-in-law; she is my child, my equal, and the true steward of this family's future."

Tears spilled over Sienna's eyelashes as she reached out to grasp Nico’s hand.
Judge Montgomery smiled warmly, bringing her gavel down with a firm, decisive strike. "The charter is approved, the custody is finalized, and the adoption is recorded. Court is adjourned."
