Chapter 6 - THE CLEANSE OF THE ESTATE

Two weeks after baby Elena’s birth, the heavy wrought-iron gates of the Ferrante estate opened not for grand socialites, but for federal investigators, forensic accountants, and crime scene technicians.
Nico stood in the center of the grand mahogany library, watching plainclothes officers pack boxes of documents retrieved from Gavin’s private safe behind the bookshelf. Beside him stood Sienna, holding tiny Elena wrapped in a knitted white blanket, while Mila sat quietly on a leather footstool, coloring in a sketchbook.
"We found the secondary ledgers, Mr. Ferrante," State Prosecutor Evelyn Reed announced, placing a pair of thick blue binders on the desk. "Gavin didn't just plan to steal the bloodline trust. Over the past three years, he and Marjorie siphoned nearly twelve million dollars from your charitable foundations into dummy shell accounts in the Cayman Islands."
Nico’s face remained stone-carved, though his eyes burned with quiet fury. "And the poison?"
"The crime lab confirmed it," Prosecutor Reed replied grimly. "The thallium powder found in Marjorie's private vanity matched the chemical signature of the toxins present in your daily tea tins. The evidence is overwhelming, Nico. They are facing federal charges of attempted premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, corporate fraud, and grand larceny. Neither of them will ever see the outside of a federal penitentiary."
Sienna took a deep breath, clutching her baby a little tighter. "What about the private clinic, Prosecutor?"
"Shut down as of six o'clock this morning," Reed confirmed, offering Sienna a reassuring smile. "Dr. Sterling and his associates are in custody. Their medical licenses have been permanently revoked, and they are cooperating fully with the state to reduce their sentences. You and your children are completely safe."

When the officers finally left, the vast manor felt strangely quiet—not with the cold, suffocating silence of suspicion, but with the crisp air of a place that had finally been cleansed.
Nico turned to Sienna, his expression softening into one of deep paternal care. "This house carried too many dark secrets under Gavin’s shadow, Sienna. Tomorrow, the renovations begin. We are sweeping away every trace of their presence."
