Chapter 4 - THE HOSPITAL SIEGE

The hospital's central fire alarm shrieked through the corridors, loud and disorienting. Sprinkler systems in the outer hallway hissed to life, raining cold water over the marble floors.
"What is happening?" Dr. Harrison demanded, stepping toward the door.
Before he could reach the handle, the oak doors burst open. Two men dressed in gray paramedic uniforms stepped inside—but neither carried medical equipment. One held a heavy silenced pistol; the other carried a black leather duffel bag.
Behind them stood Dr. Julian Sterling—Marjorie’s personal physician from the private clinic.
"Get away from the bed," Dr. Sterling ordered, pointing a syringe filled with a clear liquid directly toward Sienna's IV line.
"Sterling!" Nico roared, stepping in front of the bed, sheltering both Sienna and Mila behind his broad frame. "Have you lost your mind?!"
"Your son paid me five million dollars in advance, Nico," Sterling sneered, his eyes wild with desperate greed. "The private clinic was set up to take this baby the moment it left the womb. If I don't deliver the child and the signed custody papers to Marjorie's offshore legal team tonight, my offshore accounts get seized by the feds!"
"Gavin and Marjorie are locked in my vault," Nico said coldly, not flinching an inch despite the weapon pointed at his chest. "You are running a fool's errand for dead money."
"Then I'll take the baby myself!" Sterling barked, signaling the armed man beside him. "Secure the old man!"
The armed mercenary took a step forward—but he had made a fatal mistake. He had turned his back slightly toward the adjoining bathroom door.
BANG!
The bathroom door swung open with explosive force. Mark, Nico’s lead guard who had been quietly monitoring the room's security monitor inside, lunged out. With a swift, brutal disarming maneuver, he grabbed the mercenary’s wrist, twisting it upward until the gun fired harmlessly into the ceiling plaster.
Mark slammed the mercenary against the concrete wall, disarming him instantly, while Dr. Harrison tackled Dr. Sterling to the floor, pinning the syringe beneath the doctor's own weight.
Outside in the hallway, the heavy footsteps of tactical police officers echoed above the alarm sirens.

Sienna let out a sharp, agonizing cry, gripping the bedrails as a powerful contraction hit its peak.
"Doctor!" Nico called out, turning away from the subdued attackers without a second glance. "Deliver this child!"
